New to birds

I had 10 Rhode Island Reds when a boy in North Carolina many years ago. I am looking at retiring in a year and want to get some again and need all the help I can get. My wife of 37 years and I live in an empty nest on 6-1/2 acres in the GA country just south of Athens (GO DOGS!). I'm hoping this site will help educate me on the 'art' of keeping laying hens. Please be gentle and forgive my dumb questions.
