Hello everyone! I have been reading the BYC forums for the last 4 or 5 months and there is such a wealth of information here!

My husband and I are brand new chicken keepers and we picked up our chicks from Meyer Hatchery in mid-March right around the time of Ohio's mandated stay-at-home order went into place (we ordered them back in January). We have four chickens: Heny Lamarr (Salmon Favorelle), Little Gerri (Easter Egger), Marla Hooch (Light Brahma), and Doodie (lavendar orpington).

We live in an inner-ring suburb of Cleveland and also have 2 cats and a deaf Great Dane. My husband loves the idea of urban homesteading and we have kept a vegetable garden on and off over the years. He has wanted bees and chickens for awhile so we decided to start with chickens.. The pup is doing great around the chickens, one cat is very interested in them, and the other is afraid of them. :) The chickens have been doing great in their brooder so far and just hit the 6 week mark. We are starting to wean them off their heater so that we can hopefully move them outside in the next week or two. The temps in the Cleveland area have only been in the low 40s-upper 50s, which is colder than expected, so I want to make sure they are comfortable.

Outside of our normal full time jobs, my husband owns a wine and beer making supply store and I am involved in a circus and vaudeville inspired variety show called Wizbang, as well as our local swing dance community. We are excited to be part of this chicken keeping community!
