Hi, I live in the SF Bay Area in a zone where up to 9 chickens are allowed, but no roosters. I've never owned a bird of any type! I took the plunge and ordered day-olds (6 girls, hopefully no boys) from MPC. I chose Easter Eggers for the cool eggs and because I read they are hybrids (I'm hoping that translates to hardiness to increase my margin of error, being a newbie.

Reading the forums avidly! So much good advice to digest as I have only til May 1 to prep before the chicks arrive. Hoping my suburban post office can deal with this. Will make sure to contact them and give them a heads up.
