I'm absolutely terrible at these so I'm just going to copy and paste the questions for now!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I first got chickens this year, in the second week of March.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 8 hens.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have an Orpington, three Wyandottes, an Ameraucana, an Easter Egger, a Steele Egger, and an Australorp.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I enjoy watching their antics and listening to them yell at me every time I bring them some sort of treat.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I also garden and play video games.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 3 kids and a husband, and I'm owned by 8 cats and a dog who thinks he's a cat. I have some mental health difficulties, and my chickens were actually a suggestion as a form of therapy by my doctor. They aren't laying eggs yet, but I didn't get them for that purposes; that's just an added bonus. Despite that, I still excitedly check every day to see if they've started laying yet. If I have my timing right, it should be any week now.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I googled "chicken forum"! I was looking for a community of like minded individuals that could share both in my highs and my lows when it comes to my chickens, as well as a good resource should I have any questions. This seems to be a good place for that and I look forward to spending more time here.
