Hello all! I live in Southern California with my 2 daughters and a bunch of animals. We are pretty new to chickens and currently have 12 of them. We found our first 2 hens on craigslist, a pair of black mottled Bantam Cochin sisters named Frizzle and Sissy. They are the friendliest things ever! Then we made an incubator and hatched some eggs that came from a neighbor's chickens. They hatched October 5th last year. It was fun raising them, but they weren't banty size, so we gave them away. There are 2 roos, named Carey and Bill, left from that hatch that do NOT get along. We think they are Aseel. Bill is my daughter's pet because she nursed him back to health when his brother almost killed him. Anybody want Carey??

Anyway, our Cochins started laying eggs, which was great, so we decided to get more. Bought 6 chicks in February, 4 Cochin and 2 Silkie. We think the Cochins are 3 hens and 1 roo. Have no clue how to determine sex on a silkie!

Now, the last 2 came from a friend. We adopted the rooster, and the hen adopted us. She just flew up into our car and settled in, so we were allowed to take her home. I don't really know what breed they are, but they are bantam and have the feathered feet.

In addition to the chickens, we show, raise and breed rabbits and guinea pigs. Our current numbers are 47 guinea pigs (I think), and 17 rabbits. We also have 1 Black Swedish duck and a silly little mouse.

Ok, I think that's enough for now. Please ask questions...I would love to answer them and gain the privilege of posting pics!
