New to BYC,,,,,,Basic chicken question.

So just wondering dark brown eggs and light brown eggs...... I have Orpingtons and Sussex which eggs are which??

Had chick since last year in May. Pumping out the eggs now....so great!!!

It's difficult to say for sure as I've seen eggs in varying shades of brown from both breeds, but just guessing, I'd say the lighter eggs are likely your Buff Orpington eggs and the darker eggs are your Sussex eggs. Are your Sussex, Speckled Sussex or Light Sussex. Based on my experience, Speckled Sussex tend to lay darker eggs than Light Sussex.

X2 it's hard to tell. But since I own buff orps and sussex hens I'm going to say that the lighter brown ones are from the sussex.

WOW, you've got eggs!! Your girls do fine work. Welcome to Backyard chickens. I would guess the Sussex have the darker eggs.

Glad you joined us. My guess is the lighter ones are from the Buffs, my 3 lay the same color.
