I have been raising chickens in good numbers for the last decade. Prior to that only a few in my youth and my family had pigeons, geese, ducks.

I have around 300 chickens at the moment used for breeding, eggs, meat and a group of old pet hens and cocks at the top of the property that I have become attached to over the years.

I have Hungarian yellows, barred rocks (meat type), barnies, spitzhauben, German New Hampshires, bielefelder in silver and crele, Le Grand, marans, Sussex,
honas, cemani, flowers, legbars, and welbars.

The best thing about raising poultry is that it sustainable and I love watching the seasons change with the birds.

I enjoy planting season, picking and eating fruits. Love being outdoors with livestock, and family. Not necessarily in that order.

I work part time in construction too.

Look forward to meeting everyone and helping out where needed.

hello @springcreekheritage ! welcome to BYC :frow
that sounds like a fantastic collection of breeds, most of which mean something to me, but what is a Hungarian yellow? And who is it with the amazing punk hairdo in your avatar?!?

The punk rocker is a spitzhauben project.
The Hungarian yellows. Couple farms in the US are working with them. Outside of Hungary they were kept by Dr Roy Crawford a poultry geneticist in Canada who also exported them back to Hungary to help with maintaining the breed there. Very very old line of birds and the genetics have been preserved in their original form.
If you are interested in preservation look up gene conservation research centre In Godollo or Canada yellow hungarians or Dr Roy Crawford.
Only a couple days drive from London....
