I am interested in raising backyard chickens in a city neighborhood and I have several questions. Do the chickens need heat in the winter or are they okay in their coop? I also wonder how noisy 4-5 chickens would be as we have a small backyard and our neighbors are kind of close to us. I don't want to bother my neighbors although I will certainly ask them how they feel about chickens as neighbors before we get any. Thanks!

from Ohio. So glad you joined. Chickens do fine in a coop as long as it is dry and draft free. Hens do make a little noise when laying an egg, but those eggs will make for a good neighbor bribe.

Yeah, the hens like to let everyone know when they've created their daily miracle, but like 4-H said, you can always bribe the neighbors with farm fresh eggs.
