New to byc

I'm new here but have had chickens for most of my life. Just got 15 dark brahma chicks. Looking forward to meeting everyone and hearing about your flocks!
Welcome!!! ❤️

I have a flock of 30 or so chickens. I am addicted to hatching, so the numbers always change. Good luck with your flock! Dark Brahmas are gorgeous birds.

Welcome to BYC!
How big is your coop?
They are free in my front yard which has a 7 ft fence. I don't know the exact size.they will have access to 2 sheltered areas for rainy days and feeding. I also have a 16ft by 16ft stall no longer in use for horses that I might use. Joking about getting more...I will probably be giving a friend a couple of the 15 as that's a lot of eggs!

Uh, will be free! Right now, they are in the spare bedroom in a brooder ! There are 3 retired hens in the front yard!

You would need something enclosed (a coop), if you want your birds to survive out there. Chickens are prey animals, pretty much every animal is a threat. Unfortunately its true. 🙄

Where are you located (roughly)? Here, we have coyotes, owls, bobcats, etc. Coyotes can jump really high. We have tall fences here as well. Our birds stay in there during the day, but stay in an enclosed coop at night.

For the coop, I definitely recommend using hardware clothe, as its the safest.
