I'm new to BYC, and I think I will enjoy this.
I don't have any chickens yet, I'm still in the research process, but it won't take me long. The hardest part is figuring out what type of coop I want. My hubby is handy, but he has enough work to do. I 'm not entirely new to chickens, as I had Bantams in the past....I don't know what they were, just Bantams. Fun little girls, and I'm ready to start again.

My biggest concern is providing a coop that keeps them safe as we have raccoons, skunks, snakes, hawks, cats, dogs, and opossums in our area. We do not live in an urban neighborhood, we are out in the country.

Hello to all.

Have you checked out the Coop Construction section? Perhaps you could ask for some tips there.

Hi ChickenFarmer54! Welcome from Texas. I am with you exactly...doing the research and planning the coop but not having any chickens yet. I am also in the country and have all the predators that you do. I have finally choosen a spot for my coop and after looking at many, many of the coops posted here (thanks to everyone who posted photos!!) I have my design on paper. Now all I have left to do is wait for my hubby to take down a few dead trees that would threaten the coop. Once they are gone, I've got my hammer ready!

I think you will really enjoy BYC! Welcome and I hope to see your posts (and photos of your coop building process!) soon.
