Hello everyone! I've read many forums since I bought my girls about twenty weeks ago and have now officially joined. I have three Buff Orpingtons and five Easter Eggers. I'm anxiously awaiting our first egg!!!!

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Good luck with your new flock! Buff orps and EEs are such great breeds!:)

Oh yes! Awaiting those eggs is torture! You'll know they are close to laying when their combs and wattles are big and red, when they do the egg squat and when they are singing and trying out the nests. You may put some fake eggs in the nest so they know where to lay.

Glad you joined!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before jointing. You have some nice breeds. I love Buff Orpingtons for their beauty, and friendly and gentle temperament and have some of them in my flock. The Easter Eggers are my granddaughter's favorites. She loves their colored eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Yes, waiting on those first eggs is brutal! But it will be well worth the wait when you do find that first egg.

I hope they start laying soon! :-)

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Hope those first eggs show up soon!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I've been checking throughout the day for the last week and can't wait to find an egg! My buffs have red combs and waddles and the EEs are also really reddening up. I haven't heard an egg song or seen them squat yet.
