Hi.
We have 1 rooster, 12 hens and 16 chicks. Currently 2 hens are broody and sitting on 20 eggs between them! We have no idea what breed they are.
They were free ranged until we got sick of stepping in poo every time we went outside.
Still, the have about 400 square metres of grassed area to roam in and a mulberry tree for shade.
We started our flock almost 2 years ago and have had 5 clutches, of the first 2 we one live hen remaining, currently broody with her first. We have a 100% survival rate of the last 3, currently 2 months old. (Thanks to experience)
Needless to say, we are still learning.
