I am extremely new to having chickens. My family and I (I am 17) are planning to purchase some next spring and I am preparing everything. I have done a ton of research and am prepared for them but have no clue where to get them. We just moved to West Virginia from Mississippi not more than 2 months ago. Our house already has a coop and my dad plans to build a run. We have the perfect land and home but no chickens. If anyone knows a place to purchase them that is close by us, please help! I would appreciate it so very much!

Welcome to BYC!

What kind of hens are you looking for, egg production, heritage or hatchery?
If you are just looking for hatchery chicks to get you started, there are lots of hatcheries that deliver.

I recommend using this website, it has an interactive map of lots of Chicken Retailers in the USA.

Hope that helps
