My niece began raising some chickens a year ago and we have referred to this site often when we've had questions. Finally getting around to becoming an actual member. :)

She has several chickens of various breeds - silkies, brahma, americana, turken, frizzles, sizzles, and even some quail now.

It's been a lot of fun learning about the chickens and how to care from them. We've also started breeding red wiggler worms as another source of food for them.

We use the chicken crap for fertilizing our family gardens, which has yielded some amazingly large vegetables, by the way.

We like to think we are raising happy chickens and most of them are able to be picked up easily and enjoy the attention.

We'd like to expand the flock a little in the next few months now that we have built a decent sized coop and run. Also looking for insight on how to do things better. This seems like the right place to learn from others who have knowledge we need.
