Hi Linda,
I hope you found the help you were looking for. But if not, I live in San Antonio and most of the coop designs I found when I was first looking were meant for up north and would not be good in our summers. My absolute favorite coop is TheGardenCoop. It is perfect for what you are looking for. The plans are available on line for less than 20 dollars and are supposed to be really really easy ... lots of testimonials and they come with a cutting list.

Austin has the best meet up group for backyard chicken people ... over 1000 members. They have monthly meetings. The next one is this coming Saturday, Nov 12 and is on medical issues with your chickens. Its worth the trip and you will meet lots of real nice chicken owners

I can talk chickens forever so if you want to learn about all the mistakes I made when I started out, I am easy to find on Facebook... my name is Kim Rocha and there is a chicken as my profile picture, Also a Facebook page Backyard Pet Chickens of San Antonio...

Good Luck!
Kim

A little advice: Build you coop to house double the amount of chickens you plan on having. I am warning you ahead of time. Once chicken math kicks in, you will wish you did it.
