Hi!
Excited to be here and have chickens! Here are my responses to the intro questions:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes. We got four pullets in September of 2021.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 3 hens. One of the pullets turned out to be a rooster and we’re in a dense area so had to find a new home.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Ayam cemani, silkie, & spitzhauben.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Their personalities and (hopefully) eggs. It also gets me out of the house and works well in tandem with my other hobbies.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening (hydro and outdoor) and many art/design hobbies.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with my spouse who is an architect t in Chicago. I am currently working part time as a clinical psychologist and part time as a scientist. We have two dogs in addition to the chickens.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve been following this site since before I got chickens and figured I’d join now that I actually have them.
