Hello, We are just gettting started with our little chicken farm. We are thinking that we are going to have around 12 hens and 1 rooster, but we will see how it works out. If you have any advice for me I would greatly appreciate it. Please email it to me, [email protected]

thanks everyone for the hello's...as soon as i figure out how everything works, i will get up an index and start posting about progress.

we really dont know right now, just gonna go the local TSC or Atwoods and pick some out. I have looked at the astroulop and really like those. There is a polutry action in a local town starting in the fist part of april, so i may try that also. we just got our barn(shed) moved and now we are seperating it for the coop and my storage area. I just want to make sure that we have enough room for everyone once we get it all up and running. we are doinig the brooder room first and making sure it works right, then the coop, nest boxes and run. plus we plan on letting them free range about once a week.

You ought to look for a thread in the "where am i, where are you" thread (I think that's the name) for breeders on here that may be close to you.
I think it's important to support the "little people," plus, you may make some new friends nearby!
