New to chickens-well sorta

Well our first baby is doing great. I have it and mama confined but where chickens can see them. 2 questions for you pro’s. Well maybe 3

Mama is limping quite a bit when she get up from snuggling with baby. Is there something I can be doing? It seems like after she walks a bit she isn’t limping as much.

We have a chick hatching today, and have super chilly weather in central florida coming this weekend thanks to Sara, will mama and baby be okay? Think for 2 nights its supposed to be 41 and 39 degrees.

Last question. I have read but wanted to make sure, we don’t officially introduce(meaning let them in with the rest of the flock) the first mama and baby to the rest of the flock until 6wks old, is that correct?
Oh- anyone know the breed of this girl?

Those temperatures will be fine. Mama will keep the baby warm. I let my broodies and babies run with the flock once mama is off the eggs, usually when the chick is around 3 days old. If you wait until 6 weeks, mama hen will most likely have lost her desire to protect the chicks.

When I used to let the hens hatch, I always left them where they were until just before hatch time, then set up a box on the floor of the coop with their chick crumbles and little waterer with marbles in so they wouldn't drown. Nobody bothers them. Mom will defend and the rooster would help too if anyone got too close.

Once, I was late and the chicks came down the ramp themselves. I still set up a box then as I wasn't so sure they'd be able to go back up, so that way it was mom's choice and she had a Plan A or B lol.

Here's the ramps the chicks would come down from. Our coop was new in this picture. It's 8 years old now.
