My daughter and I are brand new chicken owners. Last Saturday, (4/14/18) we purchased 3 chicks about 1-3 weeks old. We got 1 silkie and 1 Americauna from a farm and 1 Buff Orpington from Tractor Supply. The Americauna and Orpington were labeled pullets. We are so hoping that the silkie is also. We live in a development and cannot have a roo. I have already learned a lot from this forum. I'm so glad I found it. I have attached pix of the babies.

Congrats on the new chicks! It's my understanding Silkies are hard to sex so you may not know the gender until it either lays an egg or crows (hopefully, you get an egg :fl).

Best of luck with your new flock, thanks for joining us!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

Your babies are adorable! If you would like to share more Pictures and Stories of them, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
