Hi everyone! I’ve been lurking for awhile and decided to join as I’m learning so much on this site. We have horses, dogs, cats, a squirrel and a donkey here just north of Houston TX. About three months ago, we got 7 chickens. As we discovered some of our hens were actually roosters , we got 7 more!! We are learning daily and are delighted by them. We have 4 silkies, a Plymouth Rock, two leghorns, two gold laced Wyandottes, two Easter Eggers, two Brahmas and one rooster of unknown descent .....something red. We had no id a chickens could be so much fun.

Hi and welcome to BYC

On this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at - https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/website-announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3/?prefix_id=3

You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes

So glad you got chickens! They are SO much fun, I've been raising them since I was three. I love to watch them and discover their little personalities, even when they're young. Have fun with your chickens! I have a blog all about raising chickens, you can visit the link in my profile if you'd like :) :welcome:jumpy:D

Welcome to BYC! Aren't chickens great fun? So glad you decided to join us! I have discovered the joys of other species like guineas, quail , and turkeys as well. Beware, birds are addictive!:lau
Be sure to check out the thread for your state. Lots of informative articles, and fun folks to chat with about your birds! Enjoy!:welcome
