We are getting a chicken that has been picked on by others and it will be a first. I have noticed many different things out there for feeding to the chickens. Any tips on what is best or crucial to feed and how often for certain ones would be super helpful. Also want to get 5 other chickens but not sure how to integrate them. The 1st one is a nice ameraucana. Looking for something else dosile and good egglayer.

Easter eggers or olive eggers are all mixed breed but decent layers not normally mean either.. let me be the first to Welcome you to Backyard Chickens..
where abouts do you live do you want to buy from hatchery or a breeder
be sure to offer oyster shell with layer type food

Thank you. My husband ended up getting 6 isa brown chicks at tractor supply. They are now 2 weeks old so we have them in our basement. We have been using layer feed and oyster shells for the older chicken and she seems to be doing well. We have had her for just over a week now but she still hasn't layed an egg. She was daily before we took her. She seems happy so any ideas on how long it may take?
