New to Chickens

Hi all! My wife an i are going to raise chickens this year, have never done it, but looking forward to it. am interested in any advice and plans for a coop. We are in southern VT, so cold temps and winter weather are part of the planning. looking at 2 different coops on here, Chicken Inn(medium sized coop) or the smaller Wichita cabin coop. leaning toward the Chicken Inn basically because i don't want to build a small coop only to find that we need to expand. any thoughts?
would there be any issue raising only a 1/2 dozen in the larger coop to start with?

Welcome to BYC!
Just remember sq ft is important 4 sq ft per bird in the coop and 10 sq ft per bird in the run for the number you want not what you have. Good Luck! Have Fun! :jumpy​

Hello and welcome. I'm sure you will get lots of great advice on here as I did.
 
Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I'm in the northeast. Definitely go with the largest coop and run you can afford. If you make your run attached to the coop and both predator proof, you can leave your pop door open year round, winterize the run for winter and you will have MUCH happier chickens (and chicken keepers!)
