Hi all
I'm new...I adopted a chick last July and the 1 chick turned into 5 chicks...They started laying eggs in February and for some reason 1 of them died...not sure why but shortly after that one became broody...we tried everything to break her to no avail...so I ordered fertilized eggs and after 25 days I noticed 4 babies in the nest...quite exciting...but now not sure what to do...do I move them, do I let my hen figure it out...do they need chick mash or can they eat what everyone else is eating???

Hi and welcome to BYC and congrats on your new hobby. Most of your questions will be answered in the learning centre, though chicks and mother will be fine eating chick mash for the time being.

Hello, Susan, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Most broodies do a good job protecting their chicks but I suppose it depends on where she ranked in the pecking order before she went broody on how successful she'd be at it.
The new family can all eat chick mash.
