New to Chickens

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
My suggestion is to build the coop and run NOW, not after you have a brooder of peeping chicks.
Pick a walk-in coop design with attached totally predator proof run (this means with a solid roof, not netting). Run a circuit to it and wire up receptacles and lights. If you still work (as in, you're not retired), wire up lights in the run that work off a timer.
If you are in a cold climate, run at least one receptacle into the run that is low enough to plug a heated waterer into and another near the nest boxes you can plug seedling heat mats into to keep your eggs from freezing.
Read, read, read the articles and threads. THEN get your chicks or chickens. If you get chicks and did what I suggested, you can now brood them directly in your coop.
Have fun and enjoy this wonderful hobby!
