Hello! We currently have 5 chickens that are 10 weeks old. 4 female and 1 male *I think** I am new to this. We recently built a farmhouse on 14 acres, and I was planning to have chickens at some point, but we ended up being thrown into it by agreeing to take home the chicks that were hatched in my daughters science class :) we were told the flock they came from was a mix of Ameraucana and Cochin.

They are all beautiful and spoiled rotten with treats and pets every day. They love people and will fly up onto your shoulder or follow you around the yard. I was pleasantly surprised by how much personality they have.

I am here to learn more about them and be inspired for building my custom coop soon. Thanks for reading!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens. This is a great place to hang out and explore.. Treats daily lead to fat birds that won't lay..

Great point. I should clarify when I say treats I mean very minimal. Like sharing a strawberry or two between them all.
