Hello all! I just got my first six chicks last week! 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Buff Orpingtons, and 2 Araucanas. I'm having a lot of fun watching them interact and grow! Right now I have them in a galvanized tub, but i think I'm going to need to find a bigger space for them before they are ready for a coop outside. Right now they are in my dining room! Any suggestions for an indoor dwelling until they are big enough to be outside?

I don't have chickens so I don't have any ideas but

! Great to have you with us! I think your birds will start to get pretty smelly pretty soon. Do you have a more isolated room? A garage or laundry room? Maybe the best way is to have a chicken wire "roof" for your washtub. That will keep them contained until they can be shipped to the outside coop. Good luck to you and have fun!

Get them outside as soon as is possible - the dust and odor will soon become an issue. A brooder with supplemental heat can be set up in their coop. Welcome to BYC.
