We are buying 2, 9 week old ixworth chicks tonight, we have everything ready except for the feed, what do we feed them with and do they need anything in the coop to keep them warm. Georgia & Lucas xx

! Great to have you aboard! Yes, your chickens will need a heat lamp (for day and night) in the coop. Keep it 15" - 18" suspended over them. Feed: Something called Chick Starter - brand unimportant. Medicated or unmedicated up to you! Pleased stop and read up in the Learning Center link below - particularly the chick section. Good luck to you!!

Thankyou, I am 9 and my brother is 6, we live in England. Would they be better in the conservatory for a few weeks, it's only 8 degrees here?

A lamp with a regular bulb would do. if you can't get chick food, you could use dry oatmeal. But don't keep them on that too long.

We got 16 week old chickens instead yesterday, but the farmer said he has been feeding them layer pellets should we carry on?
