New to chicks and chickens in Sacramento California

Howdy All,

I have an old broody hen whom doesn’t lay eggs anymore but is our pet.
Getting 5 5-6 week old sexed females.
When is good time for new to old chicken live introduction? How long should introduction last and how often per day/ week? Assuming this should be supervised?
What do I look for if not going well?

Once the chicks are out of the brooder and old enough to go outside I put them in a dog crate with wire.I let the flock look but no touch.I would make sure they have hide out places where she cannot get into once they get some speed and weight on. You are just going to have to supervise her and see if she accepts them or maybe one or two she may go after

Hello, and welcome! You should quarantine the new one's first though to make sure that they are healthy and won't be bringing any illness to your older hen. Good luck!
