Hello there! This site has truly been a blessing. We are new to chickens. We started with 18, 12 layers and six eaters. We are still playing the breed guessing game; as we got mixed pullets from the local Tractor Supply.
We just took our little layers out to there coop a couple days ago and the are so Hilarius to watch play. We have not yet let them out side, but we give them tons of grass and veggies to eat every morning. Last night a few unfortunate ants wondered in their coop and boy did those little hens have fun with them. Fast as lighting they went after them
My little meaters are two weeks younger but are growing fast and fat! They are almost twice as heavy as my hens but are not feathered out yet....Hopefully they can go out soon:/
We have 2 mares, 2 Bulldogs, 3 children (11yrs, 1 1/2, and 10 mo), 18 chicks, and fish...Hoping to get some goats soon
Thank you to everyone for the tons of informative postings!!
