Hi, I'm from Long Island, and the only people there that have chickens are farmers, and they are waaay out east. So I have a townhouse o n a corner lot (new development in Lexington Park) and I thought it would be fun to have a nice garden and a few chickens that can lay eggs? Sounds simple to me, now how do I go about it? Do I have to get a license, or tell someone in the administrative group in Leonardtown, or can I get a small coop, buy a few chicks and don't tell anyone!

Hi! Welcome to BYC!

As all chickens make noise, even hens, I would check with the town board to see what the poultry regulations are for your area. You'd hate to get all set up, but the birds, then have to get rid of them.
