Those look like large flake pine shavings,
which will be fine inside the coop and OK in the run for now.
But this is what I meant by coarse wood chippings, like from a tree trimmer:

Hopefully you have someplace in your yard to dump a big pile, will last you all year.

Tree trimming services are often looking for a place that they can drop a truckload because it costs them money to take the chips to the dump.

I've seen posters here recommend at thing called Chipdrop but haven't used it myself because we've had tree work done and just had them dump on our property.

I am new to chickens as well but have been following the discussions here for a while. What I ended up doing is using about a 4" deep layer of "garden straw" in my coop and a poop board under the roost bar. Every morning I scrap up the poop on the board, ramps, and other large turds lying around. It takes 2 minutes. I don't plan on cleaning the coop out any time soon. If it gets low I'll top up. The garden straw is something I noticed at the hardware store. It is designed to be used as garden mulch. It is a lightweight, shredded straw. It doesn't compact like regular straw at all.
