I am wanting to get a mallard duck to raise at my house. I have found a hatchery nearby but can't find there website. The place is called brau's hatchery in brainerd MN. Does anyone have any experince with them or have the link to their website? Or is their anyone else in the St. Cloud MN area that I could get some eggs or ducklings from.

Thanks for any help

I am knew with this.

How about ordering already hatched ducklings? Will they still imprint on you very easily or is it better to hatch them yourselfs?

Also is their a good hatchery that would ship only one hen mallard to me?

Thanks for any help

I know my duck has imprinted on me. She was from Ideal Poultry. We also have a gosling, and boy has she imprinted on us, especially my hubby!!!

I do not suggest just getting 1 hen, ducks are extremely social and will stop eating, feather pluck, etc if they don't have a friend.

x's 2 about getting a buddy! Unless you want to spend every waking second with your duck, they need friends. My four Kahkis hardly go from one side of their yard to the other with out the other 3 in tow. When one does putter around in the coop and the others accidently leave, there is this moment where they all realize that one is missing, and the missing one realizes the others left and it is a quack fest until they all meet up agian and wag their tails in relief. Pretty cute stuff. But shows how much they need each other. My chickens are not nearly so needy of each others company, they spread out all over the place, but not the ducks.

Well I have heard that mallards are better by themselves then other domestic ducks. I have other family members that have had mallards by themselves and it worked out great, so I thought I would give it a try as well.

Does anyone know of an online hatchery that will sell individual ducks?
