I've been a member of Yahoo groups Organic Chickens and Rare Heritage Turkeys for a few years and finally decided to join this group since I've expanded my chickens. I went from a basic flock of mostly red sex-links for eggs to a hoard of new birds of various breeds: see my signature below! Kind of went crazy buying hatching eggs this winter. They are all growing fast and I've been working my tail off getting a new poultry area finished. Yes I know, one is supposed to have that all done BEFORE getting the birds

I've had a series of horrible setbacks with bobcat attacks and I'm desperately working in the heat to finish the new area and get it completely secure to I can move the chickens to permanent quarters. I'm still learning how this forum works. There is a wealth of information here, thanks BYC!

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will have a lot to contribute as well as getting ideas from others. Sorry to hear about the bobcat attacks.

Beautiful turkey pic BTW. How do the turkey's fair in the Arizona heat?

I think the turkeys handle the heat better than the chickens, but they all need lots of shade here most of the year. I also use a mister in the pens when it gets really hot.
