Do u think putting a Good (not just a line but like a) full electric fence around then chickens & ducks at night will keep the predators away? If they where to get a high shock? I'm tired of losing my chickens & duck we raise from babies just to be killed within a year. Its breaking our hearts..

Multiple strands are better. You will be able to exclude raccoons and oppssums very well, except for baby opossums. Most of time I can keep foxes out, most of time. Mink and weasels will not be kept out. Raptors (hawks and owls) also not likely to be kept out. Other tricks can be used to broaden list you can exclude. Show pictures of your coop and landscape.

If you build a completely enclosed "run" attached to the "coop" with a skirt the only predator that could get in is bear. Possums, fox, all others cannot get in. The only predator that I have lost chickens to in the past years are bears. I hate bears. Most fur covered predators have to touch the wire with their nose for it to be effective, rubbing against the fur does not work. I lock the chickens inside the run and coop at night to protect them. I have a roost and some of my chickens roost outdoors, the rest inside the coop. I have this apron around the coop and put big rocks on the top. Nothing can dig under, nothing. I live where there are tons of rocks, all free!

Losing your friends is horrible. I hope you get things fixed up so you loose no more. Good Luck! :hugs

:welcome :frow So sorry for you losses. I have electric wires around my coops and pens, concrete under the gates and good heavy duty netting covering all of the pens, all due to losses from predators in the past. I have heard predators especially when I first put the electric wires up. Once they test them they don't test them again. I don't close my pop doors and the birds go into their coops at night.
