Hi. I am not new to chicken, but to hatching chicks. I love chicken, sheep, cattle, cats and dogs. That’s what we have on our small hobby acreage. Spring time is always busy with lots of new lambs, and chicks. Until last year I always bought my chicks from the store but decided I wanted to try hatching them from my own eggs for the fun of it but also its a lot cheaper than buying them.
I had my very first hatch last week. I was sitting by the incubator almost the whole day, because I wanted to see them 🐣. My curiosity took hold of me and I opened the incubator to many times to take out chicks and eggshells. Shouldn’t have done it as about half of the chicks died in the eggs. That was a hard lesson to be learned. But I have a new batch going and hopefully I’ll get better results now, now that I learned a valuable lesson.
