My hen left her clutch of eggs, after one hatched. It was a Staggard hatch,so I was expecting it.I purchased a incubator and put the 6 eggs in.I noticed when I went to turn them some was beginning to smell. They are due to hatch on Saturday June the 21,I have begun to toss the ones that had a bad smell to them.now I'm down to 2.i have one that had a boiled egg smell to it yesterday.i went to turn them and I could smell it when I lifted the top of the incubator.should I toss or do they have a smell when they get close to hatching.

They shouldn't be smelling bad... Candle them and have a look see what's going on in there.

If it smells rotten it is definitely rotten. If it smells like a boiled egg I would keep it. Candle them with a powerful flashlight, good ones are veiny and bad ones have black blobs either floating around or stuck to the side of the shell.

OK thanks. This all new to me.I did candle them yesterday.and their is defiantly a black blob.I could also see air space.so was not sure if it was a live chick.I have been looking at candling pictures.but still not sure what I am doing.

When you candle it see if it moves on its own. I had one that looked half way between a blob and a chick embryo but then it started wiggling around in there and confirmed that it was not rotten.
