I just got the pro series circulated incubator with egg turner and I hopefully plan on setting some eggs next week, I have it plugged up do a test run and playing with the temperate to get it right, I'm really worried about having it too low or too high I have two thermometers in it that should be close to the right temp. And the one build in is about 3 off, I plan on get a digital thermometers/hydrometer can some recommend one that is at a low price and I could go pick it up from Walmart or somewhere?
When is a good time to candle my eggs?
I plan to try to keep the humidity around 40-45 % and then about 70-75% for lockdown, is that ok?
And any thing else that could help with my hatch rate would be great! Also my eggs I plan on using for this time are from my friend who breeds chickens that is only 15 minutes away.
Thanks

I don't have a thermometer to recommend, I use three in mine...lol But I can give you some tips for some of the other stuff. Everyone does things differently, so you need to take what's comfortable to you and what works for you and go with it. I usually recommend candling at least on days 7/14/18 to monitor and compare air cells so that you know how to adjust humidity. I run 75% at lockdown/hatch because I am a meddler and I open the bator during hatching. As for humidity for the first 17 days, monitoring the air cell can be one of the best guides. This explains it: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity You can start with 40% and check at day 7 to see how your air cells are doing and adjust accordingly. I use the low incubation method myself and run dry whenever possible. Local eggs is the best to start with. Good choice. Wish you the best!
