Having just moved from FL to a rural setting near Evansville, IN, I am loving life in the country and having chickens for the very first time. Who would have thought that those little fluffy butts could worm their way into your heart so quickly. I am the proud chicken mom to 2 BO's, 2 Australorps, 2 EE;s, 2 mille fleur d'Uccles and 6 adorable Silkies that are all 8 -9 weeks old. Now chicken math has hit me hard as in my brooder I have 2 Silkies, 10 mille fleur or porcelain d'uccles and 7 Salmon Favorelles. Thank goodness for all the wonderful information available on BYC. It has been a great help already and I only joined last month. No doubt I will have loads of questions concerning this new endeavor. I would love to know if there are other members in my area and any chicken related activities such as swaps and shows. Everyone have a terrific day with their peeps!

Hi peeps! I live just north of Muncie, moved here in may 2011 from Pensacola, fl. I started chicks this year & have tried to find swaps myself. There is one in Troy, OH this weekend 4/28 & one in noble county 5/5, http://www.visitnoblecounty.com/calendar.html

Let me know if you find anything else! I'm normally just a "stalker" on here

Hi Grace! Quite the change from FL to IN. I came from the Tampa Bay area. Still learning my way around and so glad I got into the chicken thing. It's been fun so far! I will let you know if I find anything of interest. What do you have in your flock???

Yes, it is a big change - good in many ways though. I couldn't have chickens in Florida because we had bears in our area & there is no chicken coop strong enough for a hungry bear! I was in the NW panhandle. I went with only a few to see how I handle caring for them during the winter here. But I got 2 americauna, 1 black NJ giant, 1 Golden comet (which is a mutt of sorts & by far my favorite), 3 banthams (at least 1 is a roo, but he is so sweet!). How about you?
