I am considering getting a small flock of ducks for laying eggs, and as pets. We have 6 acres and a large stocked pond. I would like to allow them to free range when I am home and they would be kept in a coop/pen otherwise.
I am concerned that domestic ducks would disturb the wood ducks, mallards, and lone pair of Canadian geese that nest near here every spring. I have read that wild ducks can expose domestic ducks to disease as well.
Has anyone had success raising domestic ducks in harmony with wild ducks?
