New to me chickens.

We just picked up 5 3 month old chicks. How long should we keep them "cooped up" before letting them out in the run? The run is covered and completely predator proof. Night time temps are well above freezing now. Thank you.

Give them at least two weeks, to be safe. They should have feathers, not fuzz.

3 month old chicks don't need to be confined only to a coop at all.

If you really want/need them to sleep in the coop instead of the run, you might have to go out at night and put them in the coop. If the run is predator proof, I'd just let them choose where to sleep.
