These are my new babies 2 buff Orpingtons (8 weeks) old and a Wyandotte. (10 weeks) old. I want advice on how to add them into my current flock of 2 sapphire gems, 3 Easter Eggers all (20weeks) and 2 RIR (12 weeks). When I introduced the RIRs they were not excepted. The Gems especially peck on them. To the point that I have 2 Separate groups. The 2 RIR and then every body else. I want to avoid this happening again. I fear I will have 3 groups. I’m ok if the babies joint they RIRs and not the others.

Beautiful flock! 💖 Yes integration takes months, do it slowly from behind wire or cage the new birds for a couple weeks, they see but cant touch. But expect months before there is peace in the flock. Add more food and water stations, give them a ton of room to escape and have personal space. Good luck!

Congrats on the new additions to your flock!

Integration takes time and patience. Chickens don't like change and adding new flock members is definitely a change to them.

As the others have said, give them plenty of time where they can see each other but not touch. Extra waterers and feeders plus some hiding places can help.

Best of luck!
