Hello all! I have been on the hunt for a peachick for a few months and I finally found one. I'm getting 2-3 day old Kevin (like the bird from UP) next week!

My question: I have an existing shed structure in my backyard I plan to incorporate into the enclosure. It is 12ft wide x 8ft depth and the roof goes from 8ft to 10ft peak. I plan to build out 8ft and up 8ft. I also plan to net the top. I'm wondering (with consideration that the enclosure will change as my juvenile grows) if these plans will contain 1 peafowl happily?

I am going to be keeping Kevin inside for at least 3 months. Any help would be appreciated.

Personally, I think your building is fine for the coop but even a single bird should have a run that is at least 20 feet long, 10 feet wide and 8 feet tall. Can you keep them alive in less? Sure, but they will not provide near the level of enjoyment they otherwise would and will not thrive.

Ok so I have the width and height but not the length.... Hmmmm..... I could extend the run around my back porch but it would have a corner. That would give Kevin at least 20ft length. OK. Thank you. That gives me something to think about and more measuring to do. :)
