New to posting but not new to the site

I love this site and have found so much good info! we have 11 one year old mixed flock hens and 5 three weeks old chicks. my big girls free range every afternoon. I’m looking for advice on when they are fully feathered, how to introduce the babies to the big girls. I have read threads here about making escape areas for them, but I am wondering how this all works with the others being able to free range but still needing access to the run and coop.
