new to quail

we already have chickens and ducks of many breeds.
New to Quail. we want to order eggs to hatch where would anyone suggest ordering eggs from?
With my experience, I suggest finding a local breeder. I ordered online quail eggs one time and 1 out of 18 survived. Sometimes delivery services don’t handle with care, even when advised to, and their membranes detach causing birth defects and some never even hatch. Got some from my local breeder, picked them up myself, and all of them hatched perfectly. Maybe you’ll have better odds than I did, good luck!

I agree that local is best, since shipping eggs can really affect your hatch rate, but since you have other fowl already you are probably familiar?

I've gotten eggs from Myshire, random sellers on eBay, and most recently, Thieving Otter Farm. Had good luck with all of them. It just really depends on what you're after - I like colors, personally. I don't keep jumbos, but they're a better choice for meat.

Thank you!
Yes I ordered my very first chickens years ago and I agree shipping definitely effects them. First batch was a flop but my second batch was amazing.

I didn't have a chance to get pictures of all of them today, but the babies are at my favorite stage: when they look like fancy little old ladies wearing enormous fur coats.

Bean is such a zen little creature, she lets me hold her and never tries to run away. :) I know it'll change when she gets older, but for now she's my favorite.

Little albino is still doing well, she loves to yell and wouldn't let me catch her today for a picture.

“Fancy little old ladies” Haha. I love that! I’ve never thought about that, that they have such a striking resemblance of fancy little old ladies!
Yeah try to get a picture of her when you can!!

One more vote for starting your search locally! You may not get access to top-tier genetics or fancy colors that way, but it's a safer bet than shipping eggs/chicks to start. As a super-newbie, I didn't want to take that risk at first, so I found someone locally selling feather-sexable chicks. Then I ordered some of the fancier colors I wanted from Southwest Gamebirds to be delivered a month or so later. If you are more experienced, already have an incubator, and are comfortable taking the risk on shipped eggs and a potentially poor hatch rate, though, I get the impression that Myshire Farm and Southwest Gamebirds are the two big names!
