New to raising Chickens and Ducks.

:welcome Welcome to BYC! :frow

I wish someone had told me: no matter how clean you get a duck's pool, it'll be dirtier than before within the hour. Ducks are just not clean animals, and you're not going to change that.
But their immaculate feather keeping is another story...

Here's hoping that you find our fantastic community to be overflowing with all the poultry info you could ever be in need of- and maybe you'll make a few lasting acquaintances along the way. :D
So true!!! Lmao... they are so messy lol They love watermelon but it looks like a blood massacre when they are done :) They are covered in watermelon, yet oddly clean 20 min later after cleaning themselves, generally in their water feeder.... lol oh well, life of a duck mom !!!

Ducks are likely the cleanest birds anyone can own, but the way they stay clean makes a total mess. And they poop when they drink, so when they swim, they drink and they poop. Adult ducks are soooooo much easier than ducks in the brooder, but their pool(s) are a total mess as well as any water bowel they have access to.

Oh yes, I've learned that the hard way, I tried keeping bath time clean.... impossible, I clean they poop... vicious cycle. I never knew ducks grew so fast!!!! I've had them for 2 weeks today and they are 4 times bigger then they were when I got them. Last night they asked for the car keys!!
