New to raising chickens & BYC

Hello

My teenage boys brang home some baby chicks about a month & a half ago. Being animal lovers, of course my husband & I had to get busy building them a coop to keep them happy & healthy...yes, we got suckered . I've never had chickens or known anyone that had growing up but so far its been pretty cool! Looking forward to this new journey!

We are getting some soon. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on anything to do or NOT to do! We are new chickers too!

We started with 2 Amber Stars (which are the sweetest things ever) and 3 Black Sex Links. Then, as I started to look into their care I discovered a few other breeds that I wanted to add to our flock so I picked up 2 Easter Eggers, 2 Buff Orpingtons & 2 California Grey Leghorns- and scheduled to pick up a Dominique pullet tomorrow. That should be it, a full dozen! Don't think we're ready for a rooster yet but I really think we're going to enjoy this! I was happy to discover a community such as this for encouragement & support!
