New to Raising Chickens

Hi,
I got 6 Rhode Island red chicks for my birthday present. After a few days one of the chicks, that had a bad leg, fell in the watering bowl and drown. So now we have 5 chicks. Around week 6 I suspected that I had 4 hens and a rooster. Around week 10, I was right. I just love my hens but that rooster... It's been a learning experience every day. I got my first egg around week 19. It was so cute. We get about 3 to 4 eggs a day now. And what personalities the chicken have! It's fun every day. The nights are getting colder now so I know it's going to be exciting.

I am sorry to read of your loss :( I like to say that they have chickenalities ;)

What a great Birthday present! I'm new also and lost two little chicks. It's a hard thing, but sounds like you are doing great. I'm enjoying the site, I wish you all the best! Welcome.
