Hi all, I’m Rick from south western Missouri. Our family purchased 5 barred rock pullits back in early February and they are just starting to lay (little eggs so far). We bought 6 red sex link pullits in the middle of February and they are about feathered out now.
We have one barred rock who is not laying eggs in the nesting boxes and has dropped one while my oldest daughter was holding her and her second one while she was drinking from the water’er. Is there a way to train them to lay their eggs in a nesting box? Two or three of the other rocks are all laying in nesting boxes but the one won’t or hasn’t yet and I’m afraid she maybe laying them in the edge of woods where we won’t locate them. They are free range.

Most likely have to lock em up until they develope the habit of using the box.

Thank you all for the info. We all love our bared rocks, they have been great and very friendly. One likes to be held and they all want touched, but my youngest daughter wanted a different color for our next batch of babies so we choose red sex links. They are much different as chicks in chirps and activity compared to the bared rocks. We keep them inside until they feather out and they are much more active and vocal.
