New to raising chickens!

Hello,

I'm new to raising chickens and I inherited 2 leghorns, a copper marin, jersey giant, and a Plymouth. They are a year old and so far so good! Except the copper marin, she's gone broody! Been that way for 4 weeks now! I've tried closing iff the nesting boxes which is a problem because the other chickens need access. I've taken the eggs so she has nothing to sit on, I've tried distracting her with treats and also carrying her around the garden with me and none of it is helping! As soon as I put her down she goes right back to try and get in the coop or just plops herself down and tries to burrow in the dirt.

I have 4 week old leghorns and a creme legbar and I've kept them close to the chickens in the coop but in a separate protected area so they can see and hear each other. But since I live in a HOA I can't have anymore chickens or roosters so she can't hatch her own chicks to satisfy her maternal desires lol!

Help how can I break her of this before she gets sick?
You could just keep her broody remove the eggs buy some chicks from Tractor supply co and put some chicks under her. Or even put golf balls or fake eggs or even balls.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Lock that girl in a broody breaker for 2 nights and 3 days. Keep food and water in an elevated all wire dog crate with NO BEDDING and just a flat piece of wood she can get her feet on to perch. At the end of the 3rd day, let her out about an hour before roost time and watch her. If she behaves normally and roosts with the flock, great.
If she eventually makes her way back to the nest boxes, toss her back in the breaker for another night and day and try again the following night. Keep going until she breaks.
She's been at it a long time so it may take a while to crack her. Good luck.

We did it, at first she wouldn't take the 5 day old barnvelder but my daughter was persistent and kept putting them under her and wouldn't let her peck them. Finally she nudged them with her beaks under her! It's been a few days and all is well! Thank you so much!

Thank you all so very much for the good information. To update the broody hen finally after much persuasion accepted the baby chicks! My daughter was not going to let her not accept them and every time she would put them under her wing the hen would try to fiercely peck them. But my daughter was persistent and eventually after hours of trying the hen nudged the chicks under her wing! They now ride on her back and she is teaching them all sorts of new things! It's so very cute to watch!
