I've only had experience with hens in the past. Is there any special strategy when deciding to keep roosters . So far all are mixed in a fenced yard. Got flock started Mid March. Do I need to separate? Do I choose a couple special roosters or somethin like that . Thanks

When it comes to roosters, which one/ones to keep is strictly a matter of opinion and your reasons for wanting them. For a standard laying flock, rule of thumb says there should be 1 rooster for every 10-12 hens for fertility. If there is more than one they will compete for hens and challenge each other often for the pecking order. So how many hens you have should tell you how many roos are needed to maintain good egg fertility. Whoever is the most special is usually my biggest reason for keeping a roo. But it's usually a difficult decision cuz I never have just one favorite.....
